Somthing to Aspire to - 2KCBWDAY6

Today's theme focuses on a pattern or skill that one aspires to. One that you may not feel ready to tackle, but hope to. It makes your mind boggle at the awesomeness of it.

A pretty easy one for me because there are two patterns that have been in my sight, they have been on my radar and I feel once I've completed both, in my mind I will have truly mastered knitting.

I'll have to make guage, which is a basic knitting skill that eludes me. Also, it's a large enough project to require thought and dedication. Shaping, cables, setting in sleeves, these things make me nervous, but one day soon I will tackle this very popular pattern. Sometimes I just pull the pattern out and read it for fun.

Pictured above is a thing of sheer beauty. It's a true lace pattern, no plain rows in between. Five thousand beads will be strung and knitted into this massive shawl that is composed of three separate lace patterns in fingering weight yarn. This shawl is no joke and gorgeous. I'm not even knitting it for me; I have the perfect recipient in mind who I know will adore it wholeheartedly, but I want to be able say that I accomplished this project.

Right now I'm training like a runner preparing for a marathon with smaller projects, a couple of lace shawls and a top down sweater. When I'll actually try my hand at these projects remains to be seen, but I'm hoping within the next twelve months.

It's funny, I've been working up to Central Park Hoodie since I started knitting again, but haven't gotten there quite yet either.

And that shawl is blowing my mind, it's incredible.
